We’ve been talking about it all week and it’s finally here, the day we face off with our little brother who lives down the street…Colleyville Heritage. I use this analogy because the Fort Worth Star-Telegram used it yesterday and I thought it was very fitting.

The little brother you use to beat up on when mom wasn’t looking a few years ago and now he’s the one that gets to date the head cheerleader and his team no matter what sport always wins…This year the older brother found his place in the family and hired a new coach. Coach Henigan helped this team believe in themselves again, believe in this program and he helped this team mature. This staff has worked countless hours including Sundays and sacrificing their conference time to spend time preparing for each game; it is evident in the performance of all the teams…Thank you for your efforts!

Much has been said about Colleyville’s injuries but don’t be fooled, this is a strong team; this is what you call “Playing Possum”. They will rise up and bite you so don’t pet them just yet. They were able to come from behind last week to beat Keller; we respect them for that feat. You wont hear us trash talking or putting dead horses on our web site we will respect our opponent.

This should be a good game, it’s always emotional and with the expectation of close to 10,000 spectators there should be plenty of energy to feed these teams. No matter what happens, Mustang fans can’t be disappointed with this season, what a year! The Game program cover shows just a few of the moments (captured in photographs) that electrified this season. Make sure you get your copy for $5, keep it as a keepsake of a great come back season. Colleyville will also be selling programs so make sure you get our copy available on the visitor side of the field. The cover also features the defensive line and the linebackers on the cover. In the end the two teams will meet in the middle of field and give thanks to our creator (traditional team prayer). We are both headed to the playoffs so there are plenty of reasons to give thanks.
