The team has 4 offensive and 5 defensive players (starters) returning this year. Last year the team went 9-2/6-1 in district play.

Players to watch:
The Dave Campbell magazine is a great resource but for this game we have to throw it out the window. Two of the players listed in the “Players to watch” are not even playing so we will make up our own list of players to watch.

Offensively the Panthers have big weapons including Junior QB #7 Jeff Calvert, WR #10 Jake Skinner, WR #20 Kyle Millan, RB #3 Trent Dennington and now QB #12 Jimmy Isbell. Calvert went down last week with an ankle injury and Isbell stepped in without missing a beat, passing for 123 yards to win the game with 10 seconds remaining. The Panthers lost their best RB (Bailey Crego) a few weeks ago but Calvert is their top threat running the ball. Isbell is more of a passer, a very accurate passer so our secondary will have to keep on eye on Skinner and Millan.

Defensively the Panthers are ranked number 1 in team defense in the Tarrant county area (according to Ft. Worth Star-Telegram). Keller was able to pass the ball against the Panthers (156 yards) and run the ball (112 yards), the key will be to have a balance attack.

Mike Fuller has done a great job building a team after losing 49 lettermen to graduation last year that says a lot about the program.

This game has become quite a rivalry; last year Colleyville posted a dead horse on their web site after Grapevine went 0-10…all is quiet on the other side of Hall Johnson this year. We should respect each other and meet in the middle of the field after the game. We are both going to the playoffs let’s take the high road.
